Everyone wants that supermodel washboard flat belly especially after having kids, getting your flat belly back is a real struggle. I have two kids when months after giving birth to my second child, I still didn’t have my flat belly back, there was still a noticeable bump despite all my efforts, (actually not much effort). I thought my snapback game would be tight, but boy, was I wrong?
I have curated 10 tips to getting your flat belly back, I am still a work in progress but I have noticed a great difference since I started actively following these tips. So, let’s delve in; my favorite 10 ten tips to getting a flat belly.
- Drink Green Tea:
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and acts as a metabolism booster as well as a fat burner. Polyphenol, a nutrient present in green tea helps rev the fat burning process.
- Eat smaller portions:
Eat smaller meal portions, more frequently during the day, as opposed to eating three heavy meals a day. This way, the calories get distributed and you lose weight faster. Foods should include whole grain foods and monosaturated fats, also it is advisable you eat slowly so you chew the food properly and really break it down.
- Eat lots of vegetables and fruits.
These should replace the snacks, you can snack on dried fruits and nuts; carrots are an excellent vegetable snack. Fruits to eat include apples, grapefruits, and pears. These would help flatten your belly.
- Reduce your sugar intake:
Reduce the amount of sugar you consume, not just from raw sugar but from processed foods, beverage, and fizzy drinks. Drink water instead, a minimum of 8-10 glasses of water daily.
- Eat lots of whole grains:
The fiber found in oatmeal lessens insulin levels and increases your body’s metabolism.
- Do not skip breakfast:
Jumpstart your body’s metabolism by consuming healthy food early in the morning, take brown bread instead of white bread, oatmeal cereal, and fruits.
- Eat lots of almonds and avocados, you can use dark chocolate for a belly-flattening dessert. Flaxseed oil is good also. Olive oil is better for cooking and salad dressing. Eat lots of whole nuts too.
- Daily Exercise:
Exercise daily, do flat belly workouts (I would do a post on flat belly workouts that really work soon) planks, cardio, swimming, walking and running.
- Adequate Sleep:
Sleep at least an average of 8 hours daily, as a lack of sleep is linked to a higher level of the hormone ghrelin, resulting in weight gain. (Ghrelin is a hormone that is produced and released mainly by the stomach with small amounts also released by the small intestine, pancreas, and brain. Ghrelin has numerous functions. It is termed the ‘hunger hormone’ because it stimulates appetite, increases food intake and promotes fat storage. Source: www.yourhormones.info)
- Reduce Stress levels:
When you are under stress, cortisol a biochemical secreted by your body results in lowering the fat burning process.
There you have it, my 10 sure tips to a flat belly, it won’t happen overnight but with consistency and dedication, over time you would begin to see noticeable changes.
